My 'cooking' Brembos on the 2000 Sport lasted 48,000 miles of relentless use. Should I expect to replace 'race spec' rotors more often?

Not normally, if you use spec'ed pads on the correct rotors, you should get just as many miles, if not more.

The 5.0mm snowflake Brembos are the next step from the roundhole 4.0mm stockers. The 5.5mm FF SL's offer user replaceable friction disks, read you replace them, not the whole assy/carrier.
