Todd davis Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Hmmm.. Seems the fairing on my 2002 Lemans has developed a series of annoyinf rattles and a squeek or two. Mostly over lower speed sharp bumps. (could be I just can't hear them at higher speeds). It's my first Guzzi and I'm wondering if this is a characteristic of the fairing. The rattle sounds like the plastic of the fairing is making contact with something solid. I've tightened all the bolts and mounting hardware I can find, but the problem remains.
Martin Barrett Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Shouldn't rattle. Once when putting mine back on it buzzed. I'd got a piece lined up wrong or overlapped wrong way. (The bit held by three screws behind the clocks) I can't remember. But watch the captive nuts and the rubber contained ones locations and fittings also. Could it be the front balance pipe between the headers?
Guzzirider Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Could it be the headlight itself being loose? May be worth checking the bolts either side.
Todd davis Posted June 25, 2007 Author Posted June 25, 2007 Could it be the headlight itself being loose? May be worth checking the bolts either side. It couldn't have been the balance pipe, since there isn't one. Checked the headlight bolts and found they were a tad loose (eigth turn maybe). Since I was down there, I gave everything a bit of a tightening. I did find that the headlight was aligned in such a way as to allow the bottom of the reflector to contact the two fairing bolts underneath the light. Seem that one of the above fixes alleviated the rattle. Thanks
