Daniel Cooper Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Well I installed the Cannon shift pawl spring today. I made it to 8600 before the stock one broke and it jammed in 5th gear. The spring broke in the coil. I am a bit baffled--the boss measured at 14.85 mm, and since it didn't break on either sharp edge it rubs on, the usual suspected causes are ruled out. Do people think maybe we just got some bad springs ?
mik Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Yes, I think that many of these broken springs were of poor material. The spring on my LeMans broke at 6000 miles and in the same spot that yours did......there were no clearance issues. If it occurs again, I am going to assume it is just poor design as I have owned a few other motorcycles that have gone many, many more miles without anything other than a clutch cable breaking.
