slowkitty Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I was at a local shop that services almost exclusively Ducatis, and they used to bring in Guzzis. The tech there boasted that only they have the equipment to diagnose the V11, as it requires electronic diagnostics. What gives? I thought that V11s are not that modern as to require electronic diagnostics? Or am I really wrong? Or is the tech simply trying to make me bring my V11 to him? Cheers Cat
dlaing Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 The diagnostic software is very useful and can in some rare instances save on hours of trouble shooting. But most of us on this forum have gotten along without it. Its most common use is to set the carbon monoxide trim level, using the software and a CO meter. But once set you should never need to set it again at the ECU...right?!????
docc Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Some years back I tried using the Axone (is that the right spelling?) to check my CO. The reading was all over the place. The experienced and reliable tech (Alan at Corse Motosports) felt it was the oil had some miles on it and this can throw the readings around. If you are taking time to put your Guzzi on a gas analyzer to set the CO, make sure you have a recent oil change to make the readings more stable. Otherwise, a good digital voltmeter for the TPS, feeler gauge to set the valves, and some way to balance the throttle bodies is all you need for a good tune-up.
lavrgs Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Is the software and required cable available from Guzzi or is it "dealer only"
dlaing Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Your dealer may have either AxeOne or technoResearch software. The Axeone is very expensive from what I recall and I don't know where to buy it. The TechnoResearch is much cheaper and is available from several sources. I did not know the Axeone could read CO. A CO reader can cost as little as $150 US and the Technoresearch software as little as $200 http://www.guzzitech.com/store/TR-VDSTS.html

Cheers Cat Well there is technoresearch offering some diagnostics for the IAW15M of the V11 www.technoresearch.com Try the VDSTS http://www.technoresearch.com/Products/VDS...VDSTS-Motorbike and the http://www.technoresearch.com/Products/Dir...ink/Direct-Link
guzzi jon Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Well there is technoresearch offering some diagnostics for the IAW15M of the V11 www.technoresearch.com Try the VDSTS http://www.technoresearch.com/Products/VDS...VDSTS-Motorbike and the http://www.technoresearch.com/Products/Dir...ink/Direct-Link The TR software works great, its downloadable from them for nothing, but the harness they sell is where the cost is incurred. Todd E sells the kit at a good price on guzzitech.com
richard100t Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 My dealer has an Aprilia/Guzzi computer that plugs right into the ecu. It tells exactly what the tps reading is, as well as battery & all sorts of other things. Pretty cool toy I think & very expensive.
guzzi jon Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 TR stuff is ~200 bucks and pays for itself instantly on the new guzzi's Cant tune em without it
Alex-Corsa Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Is the software and required cable available from Guzzi or is it "dealer only" I use the VDSTS software diagnostic from Technoresearch. www.technoresearch.com Works great for the bike , plus I can record sessions and see them latter on the PC.
dlaing Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 The Tuning Link software (allows remapping of ECU) is not downloadable, that I am aware. I think you mean Direct Link. Tuning Link is Power Commander's product for mapping the PCIII while the bike is on the dyno. Apparently you can download the Direct Link and the VDSTS for "free", but you can't map the ECU without purchasing the key or dongle or cable, or however they protect it. You can download the software by going here http://www.technoresearch.com/ then click on downloads (flash player required)
