BrianG Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 We have no MG dealer in the local area, so I was wondering if the Oil pressure switch on my 2000 V-11 Sport can be sourced in the automotive aftermarket.... Undoubtedly it can, but does anyone have identifier parameters?? manufacturer part no's alternate vehicle application?
Guest ratchethack Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Brian, did you see this: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11783
BrianG Posted July 19, 2007 Author Posted July 19, 2007 No, but I didn't change anything. So, I pulled the pressure switch and grounded the wire.... light went on. Tested the switch........ open at atmosphere........ should be closed. My analysis......... switch knackered......
todd haven Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 The oil pressure switch from a 1988 BMW 325I will be the same thread, and the spec'd pressures are within a gnat's ass. The electrical connection is different, (round on Guzzi, spade on BMW. It's what I would do in a pinch. Same switch was used on many BMW bikes, but my memory fails me as to which ones. The airheads used 3 different switches, so I hesitate to list a reference from memory. Some Fiats used the same switch, but I haven't had anything to do with Fiats in years. I am a happy guy, and drink much less now, as a result.

Ryland3210 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 This is off topic, but I can't resist. I enjoyed my fiat 850 four cylinder rear engine fastback with a progressive two barrel weber carb no end back in the seventies. When the block cracked about two inches on the inside of a cylinder, I dremeled a groove, brazed it up, and filed it smooth. Ran great for years, but I sold it when the firewall rusted out so bad the brake cylinder was ready to break off. Loved that high revving, performance tuned engine.
