Greg Field
This is an idea that I've been researching for this winter's project. Finding/building a Hall-effect transducer to bolt onto the current speedo-drive should be doable. Installing a magnet onto the driveshaft should be doable. Next thing we need to find is a transplantable electronic head unit for the V-11 pod. I have a jewler friend that will transplant the Vegalia guage face. Callibration will be a breeze with a "Speedo-healer" type unit. There's a V11 in Seattle with a Breva 750 speedo cluster. Micha, our service manager at Moto Intl. installed it on a crashed V11 that he subsequently sold to someone else.

Ryland3210
Hi Greg, My interest just reached a new level. The speedo cable replaced under warrantee at 1300 miles just died at 2200 this morning. Royal pain in the butt. best, John
slowkitty
The part that I need to get to solve the bouncy speedo - Part 5 on the diagram below? Cable is well lubed. It's part number: 01 76 25 60? Cheers Cat
Ballacraine
I have tried it every way I can conceive of......Cable itself not an issue...Pristine... Even a new angle drive unit wired together..... Still didn't work above 5 miles Gave up in disgust at such pansy-assed under-engineering!! Bought one of these...... A really neat little thing it is! http://www.acewell-meter.com/c0_1.php?bid=11&pid=3 I doubt I am going to get around to fitting it for a while..... House renovations still priority I'll update when I have tried it..... Nige.
WitchCityBallabio
Ballacraine, Can you tell me what diameter the gauge is? Is it similar in size to the Guzzi speedometer?
Guest ratchethack
WCB, per the specs on the Web page at the link, it's 64 mm dia. V-11 speedo's are ~74 mm.

Ryland3210
Still waiting for my second speedo cable to arrive at the dealer. I've grown tired of waiting, and of riding without a speedo. I was about to buy a Sigma bicycle speedometer. Pretty cheap, at about $40-60, depending on features. Problem is, it runs on batteries, and back lighting is only on for 3 seconds at a time, each time you push a button, to conserve battery life, so that's not so great at night. The Acewell unit looks like it will do the job, but what does it cost? Also, the Sigma unit is designed to easily mount on handlebars, so for a temporary mount, it's easy, whereas the Acewell unit looks like a permanent project modificaiton. The 10mm smaller diameter does make it temping to build it into the pocket for the OE speedo. Anyone out there with experience with this device? Yep.....I see you are paying attention! It is a really neat little device. Gotta plan a neat mounting & surround to suit. Nige. Costs? Well, depends on model & whether you get lucky on ebay! IIRC list is from about £65 to £150 odd. Not cheap but good quality & plenty of functions. Nige.

With only a 40 mm depth, is there a chance this will fit within the original speedo housing? What is the diameter of, the case diameter, or the outside diameter of the bezel? Bezel Diameter is 70mm TBH It is neat enough to to mount in place of the entire instrument binnacle It is well finished & comes with a pre installed mounting bracket. It has the tacho function & all the idiot lights included, ( dependant on model ) Nige.
