It may be of interest to you to know that Agostini in Mandello del Lario are now renting Moto Guzzis. They have Californias and Brevas at the moment. They tell me that they may add a Le Mans in the future.

From personal experience I can tell you it is hard to beat riding up to the Moto Guzzi factory on a Guzzi. The roads around Lake Como are spectacular and the sound of the V twin echoing back from the mountains really is fantastic.

You can check out the current details on guzzirent.it

Ciao a tutti.

My brother and I are planning to ride the Adriatic coast of Croatia in 09. Know where we could rent bikes? Or even buy good used bikes? We go there fairly often and would love to have our own to keep there.

@KINDOY2, did you ride with this outfit?

I'm currently entertaining a pipe dream.  Kid is doing a tour with a school group (performing various places), flying into Milan late June, leaving Rome early July.  She'll be traveling with the group the entire time; my wife will intersect with the group's itinerary for a few day, but I have other ideas: to wit, Mugello for MotoGP, then renting a Guzzi, hitting Mandello de Lario, and points north, ... then intersect.

renting a Guzzi

Keep in mind that motorcycle riding in Europe is very different than what it is on this side of the world.

There are some stringent rules in term of what you have to wear, and also, in some European countries, they have radars flashing you and sending the bill automatically. I have a neighbor who received a ticket from France after going too fast on a highway in his rental car.

Check what the requirements are in Italy; for example in France, your helmet has to have reflective stickers. In some of the European countries, you have to wear a reflectiive "yellow jacket" above your riding gear too.

If you commit an offence and you get stopped by the police, if you are non European, you need to pay the fine on the spot.

There are now a lot of restricted traffic zones in major cities all over Europe. Again, if you are at the wrong place, they get your license plate photographed, and you get the bill later.

The reason why I am telling you this, I looked into renting a bike while in Paris in November, and there are lot of new rules that I was not aware that changed. Plus, you have to pay parking for motorcycles too, while it was free before.

France: as far as I know, your gloves have to have an intact CE tag in them as well.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CE_marking

bloody annoying, actually, because they are usually sewed in just inside the cuff of the glove, and get in the way. I always used to cut them out until I learned of that ruling. Not that I am likely to go to France on the motorcycle, but you never know. :huh2:
