sp838 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I've heard mostly terrible things about Shorai. As far as cold starting goes, my EarthX started up fine after sitting overnight in ~32 degree weather last fall... I do have a new R/R than puts out over 14v of charging, that might have helped too. So far it seems to me like the only disadvantage to Li ion batteries is you can't jump start them from another conventional battery in the event that it's drained. As far as weight savings is concerned, every bit helps, and ten pounds is pretty huge especially when part of an overall weigh loss program. It's a very easy place to drop weight.
loteqv11Naked Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I've had a shorai in my v11 cafe for 3 years now. Works like a charm and starts great.
docc Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I've had a shorai in my v11 cafe for 3 years now. Works like a charm and starts great. Does it get a lot of miles, or sit a lot? Dropped right in with no changes to the hold down or the cables?
loteqv11Naked Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Dropped right in. I have a gsa1200 that I do most of my miles on so the Guzzi does maybe 3000 per year. That's actually why I bought it. Was tired of dead batteries every winter from the sporadic riding I can do here when the weather isn't great. Where I park it I don't have the options for a tender
