Ralph Werner Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I posted this on the "How" discussion but I don't know how many read that. Is there an easy way do drain the gas from a V11 LeMans?
Tom M Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I posted this on the "How" discussion but I don't know how many read that. Is there an easy way do drain the gas from a V11 LeMans? I close the petcock, pull the gas line off, connect a long piece of line to the petcock and run it into a gas can, then open the petcock. This will get most of the fuel out but you have to remove the tank to get it all out.
Ralph Werner Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 I thought that the petcock is electronic - there doesn't seem to be a way to open it manually. Can you just disconnect the hose to the throttle body and then turn the ignition on?
Guest ratchethack Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Ralph, the problem with doing this is that you've still got fuel left in the right-hand side of the tank, where the fuel pump delivers fuel back to the tank thru the regulator. AFAIK, the only way to get it all out is to take the tank off and either tip it over so all the fuel gets to the left-hand side while you've got 12V on the petcock, or simpler yet, turn it upside down and slop it out the filler hole.
