Going racing this weekend....

 

I'll be at Snetterton race circuit in the UK 14th/15th/16th Sept.

 

Wish me luck :)

 

I realise there is alot of Guzzi events on this weekend - GMG, V11meet...

Have fun, was it your bike in Performance bikes a couple of months ago racing in the supertwins series?

Thanks for the support... yes, it was my Guzzi (and me) in PB last month. Fame at last :blush:

 

We had a great weekend and finished just inside the top ten in all four races... 3 x 10ths and 1 x 9th. Might not sound great but we were the highest placed rookie for the 12th race running and were running 1:18 second laps (at Snetterton) which is pretty respectable.

 

All these Duke 748s and SV700s are just too fast in a straight line... leave the old girl at a standstill down the straights but bizzarely we are making up time through the twisties and on the brakes.

 

I will post some pics of the weekend when they are released in a few days.

 

Roll on the MGS for next year :drink:

If you get the chioce get a latter model MGS, I've wacked mine on the dyno (late 06) and its mashing out some pretty big numbers. Mr Minneart is look at the dyno files to I dunno compare to others I guess I've havn't got me and a dry track day inthe same place at the same time yet summer's not too far away though. I don't think there will be too many 748's doing you in a striaght line on the MGS.

What do you call big numbers? Akira (Robins MGS that we are using) was dyno'd on a dyno-pro dyno. These are used to police the series as a control. Below is the print out - 122bhp at the rear wheel.

dyno results are hard to compare, circumstances vary to much. Murrays MGS does 131 sae.

When the result is displayed in din hp, then you even have 134hp. My understanding is that there are 2 series cams in the mgs, the earlier and the later series. Their both bikes have the 4300 rpm dip. Mine has less power, partly because the cam is not as racy, partly because the chanels in the heads as less wide in mine. My engine was build in 1995! But I don't have the dip in torque. Because the dyno station I was had a bad working rpm pickup, I don't have a nice torque curve to show.

Hi Paul, yes... I totally agree that dyno results are not much use generally since you can make a dyno give you any results you want to see. The only reason I used a dynopro dyno was because they use these for series as a control. I didn't know there were different cams on the mgs.

 

Here is a question for you all... (or two questions)..

 

Does anyone have accurate wet weight measurements for an MGS01?

If the MGS01 produces too much power, what would you do? If it produces just a little too much we will add weight (to get under the power:weight limit) - what about de-tuning the motor - how would you go about this?
