DeBenGuzzi Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Anyone know a place to pick up these Centuaro controls? they look much more comfortable for my 6'2" frame And yet another Mod I can do (possibly bodge it in some way) and get the bike closer to that Zen state.
al_roethlisberger Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Well, the Buell pegs are about 1/2 inch lower, stick out about 1/2 inch further, and are a bit further back. From what I can tell from Centauro controls, they are about 1.5 inch forward, about an inch lower, but not noticeably spaced further out. As far as sourcing them, you can attempt to get them from MG directly(good luck) or call around to the standard list of reputable dealers and see if they can source them. I am getting mine from Pete at www.rebootguzzispares.com. I'm sure that both solutions will work fine, but they will feel different. I'll be interested to see how they differ in practice. The Buell ones have worked fine, but they've never felt "quite right", so I'm hoping the Centauro controls will work a little more seamlessly. al
Mike Stewart Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Question, I was just on Rebootsguzzispares site and are the prices listed as Euro or I just don't want sticker shock when I order something. Just trying to figure out how much stuff is in US dollars. Thanks, Mike Well, the Buell pegs are about 1/2 inch lower, stick out about 1/2 inch further, and are a bit further back. I ran out of patience with the U.S. dealers hamstrung by distribution problems. Unfortunately, these are brand new from Moto Guzzi, but the quality is very disappointing. The shift lever is a very poor quality die casting, with several voids due to the metal and/or die not being hot enough or insufficient injection power. An attempt was made to cover this up by aggressively sand blasting it. The porosity and voids are plentiful enough that I have doubts about the strength of the part! I supply controls to die casters worldwide, and I none of my customers would ship this part, not even the Indians. The price, 132 Euros for a part with a manufacturing cost of less than 5 bucks, adds insult to injury. Buyer beware even from the OEM. The foot peg bracket certainly looks strong enough, since it is made of steel, but the finish is crude at best. The quality of these parts is truly inferior in comparison to the fine parts that came with my Cafe Sport. I like the change in position, but at $470 for the two levers and two brackets, for parts that should have been rejects, it is a ripoff in my opinion.
Greg Field Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 If you want the good stuff, get the Motobits foot controls. They are about halfway between the positions of the Centauro and Sport controls, fully adjustable, and carved from billet. Much mo' bettah . . .
Beuphonium Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Greetings all- Русский язык? Я неплохо знаю... Actually, at 5'9" my only real gripe so far is that my hands seem to go numb on the longer rides. Maybe it's the forward reach but I've actually gotten used to the peg position. Perhaps tweak the bar positon, or could this be a side effect of the foot controls as well? - Joe K -04 Cafe Sport
Greg Field Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Also, if anyone wants the Centauro controls, I have three sets of everything, minus the brake levers. It looks to me that a good man with a hacksaw or bandsaw and drill press could make a usable brake lever in an hour or so. This is what I was gonna do (I'm very skilled with a hacksaw, as I'm a builder of flintlock longrifles) for Billy Bob, until the Motobits came along.
