Guest BIGGERJIM Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 hey yall my 2001 v11 sport that i got 2 weeks ago left me stranded wensday just quit running at a stop light. so i pushed it in a parking lot. got a ride home ''''''' i have fuel, fire to the plugs and compression, and the kill switch and the side stand switch seem to be functioning properly. it's got me scrathing my head. the one thing i noticed was the fuel pump fuse was blown so i replaced it. hit the key and it come on, but the bike still would not start. that day was the first time i got to ride the bike and i really did like it now if i could just get her going i would let my honda's have a break head scratchung in bama
docc Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 BJ, The first answer is usually 'relays.' That might even explain the blown fuse. What kind of relays are in the bike now? How many miles on it? How far are you from the Tennessee line at I65?
Guest BIGGERJIM Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 thanks docc for the reply i have 18,700 miles on it i have just got it running awhile ago and now i am changing fluids it had set for a year before i got it i replaced fuse and moved some relays around and replaced that one and presto it cranked. i really need to get some of those relays for spares. i live about 8 miles from florida line in slocomb al. i hope this fixed it it is beautiful today. thanks for the reply thanks big jim

Sorry to hear about your early let down as these bikes once Electronically sorted are Bullet proof beyond bullet proof more in the realm of nuclear shelter. They'll go 100,000+ without any major work I say 100,000 because you might want a new clutch at that point.
Guest BIGGERJIM Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 thanks yall for the replys just got back from a 50 mile ride it was great it is so differrent than my other bikes it is a great addition to my stable now i will get them front shocks sorted out any ideals on heavy springs for fat guys seems a little soft . this is a great forum thanks jim
Tom M Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 any ideals on heavy springs for fat guys Glad to hear that you got your problem fixed Jim. Here's a spring calculator from the Sonic Springs website that can help you pick a spring rate. http://www.sonicsprings.com/catalog/calcul...35a46880b121ae7 . Sonic seems to carry a good array of springs for a very good price as discussed here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12273 This company has springs for the V11 Marzocchi fork even though they aren't listed on their application chart: http://www.traxxion.com/ I'm using their springs with no complaints. They were very good people to work with . At my request they sent me a single 1.0 spring to try at no charge when I decided the pair of 1.1's were a little too firm for me after riding on them for a week. I ended up sending one of the 1.1's back to them about 10 days later. Guzzitech has progressively wound springs that many here really like, but I don't know what rider weight range they are suitable for. http://www.guzzitech.com/store/HyperPro-FS.html
WitchCityBallabio Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Talk to Todd at Guzzitech about the HyperPro springs. They ask a lot of questions with regards to weight, passenger percentage, luggage weight percentage etc, so they may have just what you need. Reasonably priced and 1 million mile guarantee. Should be just about the time the Guzzi is broken in.
