Guest Guzzi-less Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Coming back from an argument with Mr. Cancer (lymphoma) this year, not much riding but a lot of browsing/lurking, I find I want a bike with more character. I've been riding off and on for about 40 years, mostly Jap bikes 650 or smaller, plus a Victor Special, an R60/2 US (morphodite machine) and the long term loan of a 72 Commando way back when. I had a 2000 W650 for 4 years. Currently I'm on an 06 Ninja 650R (it's leaving) and a 90 GB500 (keeper). I've never been much for bigger bikes, v-twins or touring machines. But there's something about Guzzi... As my strength returns I'm looking forward to riding more, I've put less than 500 miles on both bikes all this year. Come Spring I should be ready for some daily riding and weekend jaunts. I initially started looking at the Breva 750, but I don't think it's going to do it for me. Some form of V11 may be what I need., a sport/cafe machine. Oh yeah, the guy across the street just got a new Ducati Sport 1000S, pretty bike, but the brand is not for me. It did get me thinking about reconnecting with what a real motorcycle feels like, or should to my thinking. I keep thinking about that Commando, but I don't want a 30 yr old machine. So I've been paying attention to what's said about ~4 yr old V11's, and done a fair amount of reading here and a couple of other forums. I'm glad to see the local dealer Motomeccanica is doing Guzzi now, I've never bought from them but have been in their shop and like them, seem to have a good rep. So I'll just kick back for now and continue to browse. As I get closer to seriously looking for a bike to buy I'll ask some questions (after reviewing all the FAQs, of course). Ballabio Bertie Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Hi Dennis and welcome aboard! Lots of advice on this forum but the best thing is to try to get a ride on one. If you like it you'll be hooked like the rest of us poor souls!
Guzzirider Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 There is plenty of life after cancer- and a Guzzi will help you get back on your feet in a flash! Guy
Guest Guzzi-less Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 There is plenty of life after cancer- and a Guzzi will help you get back on your feet in a flash! Guy I figure I'm due a reward for my trouble, and yes a Guzzi would fill the bill nicely!
