earemike Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I'm finally on holidays and pulled the exhaust to do my valves. Wow, so much quicker without the *%&! cross-over pipe. I had my set of headers from Todd ready to go back on. Unfortunately I noticed two disconcerting points. 1. There were no exhaust gaskets! 2. Both exhaust flanges are warped. Question: Is this common? I have cracked both headers (this problem only started after the bike shop pulled the pipes to service her). I find it hard to believe that both exhaust gaskets went missing during the service. Do the flanges normally warp or would this be the result of over tightening? (just thought I'd ask while I'm here) I should also say thanks again to everyone on the forum, it's great to check posts here when I have problems with my girl. By girl I mean guzzi, although there seems to be a little advice on the other form time to time
raz Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 For what we know about Guzzi, maybe they just forgot them at the factory. When I bought my bike second hand, one of the gaskets was missing (it didn't leak though). When I tried to fit one it turned out to be a welding "drop" in the way that I had to grind off the downpipe. Luigi just skipped the gasket instead <_> FWIW my flanges are very soft and I have to warp them to get it tight, but I don't really have a V11. Various aftermarket flanges are available if you'd like to replace them.
