That rings a bell. What was the pic? While you're checking, I see that Nogbad was featured on the cover of the Buell Club mag, Rebel Heart. Quite right too. He's been very enthusiastic about his little Buell. (Victor Bockris is Nog's Buell Club rebel nickname)

JackBoots Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I was going through the gallery section and found this photo.Thought it was humorous , as I played on it ,and didn't think any one knew about it. I see that there is a Johnny Thunder's cover song on there... very cool! I noticed that Andy Shernoff of the Dictators NYC was wearing a Moto-Guzzi shirt in Spin magazines recent 30th anniversary of Punk issue. It kind of made me wonder if he was lirking around this site somewhere. DFFD
mznyc Posted February 8, 2008 Author Posted February 8, 2008 Ya,we were all in the NYC club-rock circles in the 80's-90's. Knew, met and played with a lot of the older punk guys of the 70's.Johnny,Walter Lure and Jerrry Nolan were just a few of them. Wish I was around from 75-80,quite a fun scene I'm sure.Bebe is one of those people, and has many stories to tell, haven't read the book but will check it out.Love the Dolls,Ramones,Blondie,Mink DeVille,David Johanson,Heartbreakers a great time for R & R.
belfastguzzi Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Hi belfastguzzi,Added photo, what is the Buell club mag?For the bike or the woman? Oh right: thanks, it's not what I thought. (Buell - Rebel Heart & pic of Nogbad (not): just a bit of long-running silly banter with Nogbad. But oh dear, wrong forum really <_>

You're speaking my language. I've seen most of those bands. I read somewhere Walter Lure is now a stockbroker or something. I'm from the Boston area but the bands used to go between CBGB in NY and The Rat in Boston. It was a great time for music.... and motorcycles.... that was in the days when I could get away with parking my motorcycle on the sidewalk in front of a club and not get a ticket!

Hey Jack, Played the Rat countless times,as that is where I'm from.Grew up in Worcester, lived in Boston for several years then went to NY.Used to park my first street bike a VF 700 Magna, on the sidewalk outside the Rat all the time. Walter's been a stockbroker for about 30 years, may have been during the Heartbreaker years also.I know him and played several times with his band the Waldos in NY.A lot of fun ,a great guitar player, with amazing stories. Little known fact is that he played a lot of the guitar parts on the 80's Ramone's records. The dude should write a book. The guys of that era made Aerosmith, and this is from one of their biggest fan, look like choir boys!

I actually knew that he played on Ramone's albums. Some friends of mine used to be in a band called the Annoyed. They opened for the Ramones a few times and they used to tell me that Lure was behind the stage curtains playing the solos for Johnny at shows. Worcester, so we're talking Ralph's Diner now. You didn't know Jamie Severens from the Unattached and later the Fighting Cocks? He's a friend of mine from Worcester. The Rat was great. I used to love seeing the Neighborhoods play there. (hoods are playing around again by the way). I'm actually married to a Rat bartender. She was the tall dutch blonde that had her own motorcycle. She had a motorcycle only driver's license. I had to teach her how to drive a car...how's that for a switch.

Yup that was me,the drummer in Unattached,Ralph's was a fun place.Don't remember your wife, but those years were a bit of a blurr, you know what I mean,..we must have met if you came to Ralph's and the Rat shows during that period.Simon Ritt our bass player from about 86-89 palyed with Johnny a few times and his band opened up for him many times, Walter never mentioned playing during live shows. That may be one of those folk Lures,ha,ha.It was hard to get war stories out of him as he thought that whole period of drug taking and general debauchery was silly. He's pretty much a renaissance kinda guy. Small world,....

Small world,.... You were the drummer in the Unattached! That's great! It is a small world. I saw Unattached at the Rat once and I want to say at some kind of a High School Times show at the Channel. I didn't know Jamie until much later but Unattached did stick with me as a memorable band. By the way, The Fighting Cocks played Ralph's last night.
