Molly Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Put my new sealed battery on the Optimate charger prior to fitting but it quickly showed a red warning light. Fitted it to the bike and it fired up immediately (though it was very cold and had been stood for weeks). Any thoughts as to why my Optimate might not like my new battery? Thanks.

What make of battery was it Molly? Was it a Hawker Odyssey by any chance? If so, Optimates are not suitable for that type of battery- they come charged up out of the box and keep their charge for ages with no need for trickle charging.

What does the red warning light indicate is wrong?
Greg Field Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Optimate III? If so, it'll work fine w/ an Odyssey. Unplug the cord and then plug in again to give it another cycle.
