belfastguzzi Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 On MG.it site, MG describe the 1200 in Stelvio as 4V but the 1200 in Griso as 8V The site also has a pic of the 1100 Griso that is supposed to be the 1200
Paul Minnaert Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 On MG.it site, MG describe the 1200 in Stelvio as 4Vbut the 1200 in Griso as 8V Is the motor in the Stelvio 4 valve and not the same as 1200 in the Griso? The site also has a pic of the 1100 Griso that is supposed to be the 1200 I suppose they finaly see the 8v wasn't fitting in history. Guzzi always named them after the valves in one head. And on the heads is written 4v. Wrong pictutres on the guzzi site don't surprise me. Since the last revamp, more is wrong. My 10 year old daughter made better working websites.
rocker59 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Ha Ha !!! That's funny !!! I went to the site and you're right... Someone needs to do a little proof reading...
belfastguzzi Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 4V per cylinder head = 8V Yep, I know. Just wondering why they aren't consistent in how they describe the motor. Strange marketing approach, though Paul gives an explanation.

Guzzirider Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I guess it depends on how many bottles of lunchtime vino Luigi consumed before naming the bikes. Or maybe they ran out of 8V stickers and only had 4V stickers left. I love their amatuerisheness (is that a word?).

I wonder were they trying to play on the evocative memory of the V8, when the Griso was badged 8V?
Duecavalli Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Having 4V on each cylinder head is more accurate than having 8V on each cylinder head. I'm Italian. I guess I can deal with the logic of it.
pete roper Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Why bother with identifying valve numbers. Go by appearance 2V Per cylinder = Blockhead 4V Per cylinder = Knobhead Pete
belfastguzzi Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 2 sooty valves per = Blackhead Too loose valves per = Slaphead poor tuning = ate valves
