Guzzibun, that you loan your bike for racing. Not many would do that. But exciting it is.

I bought a thoroughbred racer - what is the sense in keeping him in the stable? Exciting it definitely is!!!

I missed Saturday but was there on Sunday - race results were:

Sat 1 - 17th on grid, 4th under the flag

Sat 2 - front grid, first away and held to the flag

Sun 1 - front grid, first away and held to penultimate lap then dropped to 2nd under the flag - reason? - he forgot he had a 6th gear out of the final bend!!!

Sun 2 - front grid, first away and held to the flag (save for a short-lived altercation on the 7th lap!).

Oh yes - forgot to say that the Sun 1 race saw Gyles set a new lap record for Thunderbikes - uckin' fawesome!!!

Gents, I promise, I will write something up shortly... I am away to Italy tomorrow but back next weekend and I'll put something together and post it then. Thanks v much for the interest...

JC - thanks v v much for the information on Criox - I'll drop you a line when I get back.

Also, to anyone thinking of attending, we won't be at Brands in May - the BSB guys had their weekend snowed out a few weeks back and they have stolen our slot !! so next time out is Criox in June - 8 weeks away.

Robin, it was down the back straight I goofed and ran 5th instead of sixth. What an arse eh?? Mindst, I kinda prefer a second place and to break the lap record though I admit 1st and a lap record would have been better.. :P

Here are some pics from the weekend's antics for anyone interested.

Akira (the MGS01) is detuned (dropped compression) and carries an 8kg weight penalty to get him within regs... and actually weighs in at 220kg !! the heaviest machine in the series - but thankfully the most powerful at 116rwhp.

Cheers,

Gyles

Slight aside, but, if anyone in the UK is interested, there is an MGS-01 for sale in my local garage in Barking, Suffolk for £16,000. I just wish I had £16,000.....

Just went to see Thunderbike competition in Croix, France, today. I thought this was going to be a small event but, my god, those British are the heart and soul of racing! The spirit there was overwhelming, loved it. Gyles is a great guy, so is his MGS-01 and his entourage. Great!

That British Thunderbike competition is a wonderful setup. I really wish we had something like that. But don't get me wrong. These guys are going really fast, I mean really really fast.

Keep up the good work, Gyles! It felt good to see a fast Guzzi racing.

Just out of interest, how did Gyles get on?

I just saw one race on saturday afternoon where he managed to be 5th after a stunning duel with the Vyrus (lovely machine). Gyles is one of the fastest, sure of that. Made a wonderful start, passed first round in second place. I'm sure others will complete his ranking.

Hi Folks.

JC, thanks alot for taking the time to come over to Croix. It was really good to meet you and your son. Sorry if I was a little pre-occupied some of the time.

I wasn't looking forward to Criox in truth. Probably the opposite style of track from Snetterton where we'd gone so well. Croix is more like a go cart track - i hoped to run top 10, but really wanted top 5.

It was a new track for me so I did practice on Friday but had a host of brake problems with horrendous lever to the bar moments at the end of the main straight ! the fork seals also let go in the afternoon so I only managed 2 full sessions.

First race I started 4th and finished 4th which I was delighted with. Second race I finished 5th which I was a little dissappointed with in truth. Sunday, race 3 was my best race as I ended up on the podium with best lap times 0.1 off 57 seconds. Race 4 was a wet race (my first wet race!) and we came home in 5th with fastest lap of 1:02... just 0.7 off the race winners fastest lap.

All in all I was really chuffed with my results.

I'll post some pics when the photographers make them available.

JC - tried your suggested lines for Sunday for the top hairpin - they seemed to work well ! Cheers mate and I hope we get to race together some day.

Cheers,

Gyles
