Tomcat Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Hello everyone, I just purchased a 2000 V11 Sport with about 7k miles. I don't have it yet as it is being delivered to me sometime within the next week or so from New Hampshire. I'm in Virginia Beach, VA and can't wait to get it here and put some more miles on it! I've always liked the look of these bikes and wished I could have had one when they were new. I had just bought another bike about the time I discovered the V11's and with a baby on the way and a new house and job, it just wasn't a good time to get into something else. I've really enjoyed my old Honda CB900F and am sorry that it will have to go but I'm pretty stoked about the new ride coming. I'm sure I'll be communicating on this board with questions about maintenance and upgrades. I've been perusing this site for a few weeks and after reading a lot of the threads I decided that I wanted to buy this bike. Well that's the story for now. Here's a link to the bike with some pictures if anyone is interested. 2000 V11 Sport I would appreciate any comments or advice. Thanks, Nathan
jhh Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 If you found that bike on eBay, I almost bid against you. I especially like the color scheme on it, the silver and red is pretty nice. I'm a new Guzzi owner as well (2004 V11 Ballabio) and just picked mine up on Saturday, and so far I really love it. I love it so much in fact that it's done over 800 miles in the four days I've owned it. Welcome! vvv Yes, it was the one listed here by a forum member. It's in almost new condition, and I lucked out getting it I think.
Tomcat Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 I'm guessing you bought your bike in Tennessee from a listing you saw on this site. I emailed that guy about his bike and asked for some more pics but you moved on it before I could. Congratulations, that is one of the cleanest Ballabio's I've seen. My bike wasn't listed on ebay as far as I know. I found it on Cycle Trader and got in touch with the dealer directly. Well I wish you good riding and great roads. I'm sure we'll both be visiting this site a lot from now on. Peace, Nathan
Tom M Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Welcome and congrats to both of you on your new Guzzis. Nathan, WOW. Someone put some serious time and money into that bike. The 2000 V11's came with a silver engine and drivetrain so someone pulled that bike completely apart to paint it. They even repainted the passenger footpeg mounts. It looks like they did a great job and you now have a very unique V11 Sport. The Penske shock and adjustable bars are definite upgrades from stock too. FYI here's a stock 2000 (except exhaust) next to yours:
ponti_33609 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 And they applied the eagles on the tank "backwards". Both are rear facing rather than forward facing. Is pretty though. Bob
DeBenGuzzi Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I'm thinking maybe I'm charging too much as that is one CLEAN bike for 5500. Mine has some different upgrades but that black engine is pretty trick and I/m sure expensive to have done. I do like that my silver will never flake off though. I wonder where he got that CF front fender. Thats the only peice missing on my bike. It may not be a bother to you but the eagles being on the wrong way would drive me crazy.
Skeeve Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 It may not be a bother to you but the eagles being on the wrong way would drive me crazy. So just turn the tank around...
Tomcat Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 Thanks for all the input/compliments guys. I'm going to reserve judgement on the emblems and the paint job in general until the bike gets here. The small flaws in the pictures may or may not bother me enough to do something about them. If they do, I'll probably take the tank and tail piece to a paint shop to have them reshot. If I go that far, I'm thinking of changing the emblems to the red oval design. Is this sacrilege? I know there must be a certain purist faction that thinks bikes like this should be kept original but obviously this one has already been highly modified and I think the other emblems would look way cool. Peace, Nathan
Guest frankdugo Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 congratulation on your new bike.do what you like.
Tom M Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 And they applied the eagles on the tank "backwards". Both are rear facing rather than forward facing. Mine face "backwards" from the factory. They only do that on the fast ones...
gstallons Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Get the bike, make love to it for a couple of weeks, then decide IF you want do anything about the paint job.............
