cycdude6 Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Hey all, Lately my Ballabio won't start until i jiggle the handlebars. Has anyone had this issue and if so, what did you find was the problem? Thanks, John
BRENTTODD Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Dont shake the bars just wiggle the wires i would start with the one going to the switch on the clutch. If that dosnt work switch the relays.
Guest ratchethack Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 John, this is a well-known "feature" of many V11's. Per many posts on this, there are a pair of bullet connectors under the left front of the tank, zip-tied up against the spine frame, that are notorious for going semi-intermittent. As Brent pointed out above, these are the wires to the clutch switch. The way I permanently fixed mine (exact same symptoms) is the same way we fixed my Pal's on his '04 LM -- cycle the connectors several times to brighten up the contacts, fill with dielectric grease, re-connect and LIGHTLY crimp them with a crimping tool. In both cases, the problem never came back.
cycdude6 Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 Thanks guys, I appreciate your help. Will report back with results. John
gstallons Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 There is a product "Stabilant 22" available at auto parts stores that sell Standard Ignition parts. It is a conductor enhancing liquid I apply to connectors that are exposed to moisture or low amperage that will experience problems with continuity. It is NOT cheap but it is effective! p.s. I do not like bullet connectors any more than anyone else so make sure they are a tight fit.
cycdude6 Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 Wow, problem solved! That was an easy one, thank you all for helping, bike started like a charm all day after I followed the advice. Kudos. John
