mille108 Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 step one, create a special tool so you can work on the rim in a lathe. cut of the rim on the brake side Remove a part of the rim so that u end up, with a 5.6 inch rim.. perfect for 180/55 weld it properly....... Remove one side of the hub, where the brake disc used to be Make a plate of high grade aluminium and weld it onto the hub for the shaft drive connection bolt on the guzzi drive Create a brake disc on the sprocket side of the wheel(home made 185mm) Make a hub cab/spacer to hide all the ugly bits(bolts an other nasty stuff) A small brake calliper of a trails bike is big enough..the only thing we still have to make is a bracket to bolt the calliper onto and to hide it behind the swingarm. And you end up with a 5.6 inch rim perfectly centered,of course there are other things like measure until you drop and some spacers to make but the result is stunning. For more info this is the email adres off the guy who did all the work smittech add hotmail.com
antonio carroccio Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Can you do the same for a V11? I can procure a set of wheels. You can make the price...
Guest drknow Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Holy Bleep of a bleep! Nice job, but man, how long did that take you? I assume that there was no way to actually get the 6.0 inch rim to fit without making it narrower? Seriously, nice job. dk
mille108 Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 Can you do the same for a V11?I can procure a set of wheels. You can make the price... I cant, but this is the email adres of the workshop where i did it... Contact him he can give you info about prices and sofort. smittech add hotmail.com
mille108 Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 Well it was a several day job,but we had to find everything out from scratch so that took some time. 6 inch wont fit exactly in the center it will be offcenter by aprox 7/8mm,the rim will touch the shaft and i wanted to be exactly in the centre so chopping off one side of the rim was the best solution.
mille108 Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 The front end we already did before,a 2degree steeper angle and the complete front end of a Aprilia RSV 2004 wheel, Brakes, tripple tree, clip ons, the lot..
Jap In OZ Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I cant, but this is the email adres of the workshop where i did it... Ciao Jasper

Ciao Jasper Hee een naamgenoot! 6 speed box is not on top of my wish list,we still have todo the exhaust system, rear subframe, seat unit, aluminium swingarm, ditch the injection system for some Keihin FCR carbs..ect ect One thing you will have to keep in mind that welding is not possible on several types of aluminium, these stock RSV rims are already way lighter than the stock cast iron ones .... and cheap and plentyfull on ebay... regards Jasper
dlaing Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Nicely done. Truly Inspirational! I hope you can post more on the future modifications, especially the rear subframe and swingarm.
Skeeve Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 One thing you will have to keep in mind that welding is not possible on several types of aluminium, these stock RSV rims are already way lighter than the stock cast iron ones .... and cheap and plentyfull on ebay... I was wondering about that. So the RSV rims are forged instead of cast?
mille108 Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 I was wondering about that. So the RSV rims are forged instead of cast? Stock RSV wheels are cast, this is a cast wheel and there is no problem welding these. The OZ type is forged Alu or magnesium, and came with the R or later Factory types
antonio carroccio Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 <_ ...euhhmmmm ik krijg van die waanbeelden hierbij...>
dlaing Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 welding the blue forged ones is a problem? Maybe they got the gold OZ Ghezzi-Brian wheels and anodize them blue????
