Guzzirider Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Unfortunately a friend crashed his CBR1000RR last night on the moors. Luckily for him, he has got away with a fractured bone in his foot and a few bumps and bruises. Just been round to look at the damage, and all the obvious damaged items like the fairing, footpegs, levers etc can be replaced or repaired. My worry is the beam frame- the bike went down on the left hand side and there is a mark and a slight indentation on the frame where it slid down the road and the fairing bashed into it. The bike seems straight enough, wheels and forks undamaged but my concern is the frame- is a small dent enough to make it structurally unsound? I am guessing if he took it to a Honda dealer they would say the frame needed replacing as a matter of course but I would appreciate the thoughts of anyone who has some experience in this matter. Cheers Guy
grossohc Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Usually any sign of frame damage makes it a right off (especially with the price of honda parts). But try posting on firebladeriders.com and see what they say. Gary Was it the red blade at the scottish rally !!!
Guzzirider Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Was it the red blade at the scottish rally !!! Thanks Gary Yes it was. Luckily he was only doing about 20mph when he went down on an infamous corner over Buckstones Edge. He is completely gutted about his bike- was TPFT insured too.
