John-Mark Arechiga, from whom I purchased my Scura ( and who made it the coolest looking Scura on the road). Know as "drknow" on this forum, was killed at Buttonwillow Speedway near Bakersfield, California.

 

A good guy......a major bummer :(

 

DECEDENT'S NAME: John Arechiga

CITY OF RESIDENCE: San Diego

AGE: 40 Years

TYPE OF CASE: Solo Motorcycle Accident

DATE OF INCIDENT: May 10, 2008

TIME: 1045 Hours

LOCATION: Buttonwillow Raceway, Buttonwillow

DATE OF DEATH: May 10, 2008

TIME: 1148 Hours

PLACE OF DEATH: Kern Medical Center - ER

INVESTIGATING AGENCY: Kern County Sheriff/Coroner

 

Details: The decedent was a helmeted motorcycle racer who was practicing for a race. For an unknown reason the decedent lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. The decedent later expired as a result of his injuries. An autopsy is pending for cause of death.

 

John was a popular WERA/WSMC racer in the Southern California. He was also the Bridgestone distributor.

 

Accident occurred exiting the last "S" turns.

He was one bloke I was really looking forward to meeting.

its a sad sad story and he will be missed, He was too young to to be sent off but yes the silver lining is he was doing what he loved.

Thats the second one this weekend, the other was a german guy from another forum I visit often.

 

I have exchanged few mails with him, he was very passionate about what he was doing, don't now what to say more now.

 

My condolences to his friends and relatives.

Very sad news. :(

 

Helen and I send our condolences to his family. We will raise a toast to him at the V11 meeting in Ken Bridge next weekend, and spare him a few thoughts.

Well crap. Just rotten news.

 

Thoughts w/ his family; a tragically unexpected loss like this is much tougher to deal with than a protracted illness. :(

I am very sorry to hear that. I only knew him from his posts here but he seemed to be a man who knew what he was about. Condolences to all his family & friends.
