Does an 04' Lemans have a single or double plate clutch, and what difference does it make, anyway?

I'm looking at an 04' and the information the seller is providing says it is a single plate, but he's not certain.

thx

Dual plate on your '04 LM. The difference is for all practical purposes, none in terms of function. However, there were a series of single plate clutches on certain earlier models that were known to fail at high RPM (of course), with the usual resulting mayhem of heavy, high-speed schrapnel exploding out of their housings. :o

If you want peace of mind on this, have the rubber bung-hole cover on the RHS of the clutch housing out for a look-see. You'll find the intermediate plate of the clutch in the clutch pack behind the flywheel, sandwiched betwen the two clutch disks. The single plate clutch has no intermediate plate. B)
