marcorod Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 I thought I'd check to see how my valve clearance are since my bike has 9700 miles. I bought the bike with 5700 miles and don't know if/when previous owner adjusted the valves. Here are a few questions I have considering I've never done this type of work before. How do I find top dead center? I don't have a stand for the bike's rear wheel. Is it necessary? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Guest frankdugo Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 a rear stand is not needed to check&set valves.it does make it easy though, and if you plan to work on the bike you will need one. you can download the service manuel from "this old tractor.com".going thru the past threads here will find you everything you need. also check out "guzzitech.com good luck!
Paul Minnaert Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 on the flywheel are marks for each cylinder. On the right side there is a rubber in the motor housing, take it of and you should see them.
