I recently replaced my Veglia with a white faced, red needled Auto Meter speedo. Though it's not a full 'how to' write up, the basic details are in this thread on Wildguzzi http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=18111.0

Though I've only got a few hundred miles on it I'm very happy with it.
