OregonAl Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 After the track day in conjunction with the National Rally in Malibu, I noticed that the intake manifold gasket on the left cylinder is leaking oil. I can't ride the bike home this way (about 900 miles) so I am hoping that a new intake manifold gasket will solve the problem. Any suggestions as to the cause and/or cure are appreciated. BTW the bike continues to run very well if that matters. Al
Richard Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Your intake manifold is leaking oil? There are no oil lines there to leak. The only thing that I can think of is that the oil feed to the rocker box, which sits in the 'V', needs to be nipped up again. If that is slightly weeping then there will be a small amount of oil collecting around the inlet manifold...
moscowphil Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I agree with Richard. It's highly unlikely the oil is leaking from the inlet manifold, it's probably coming from somewhere else. best thing to do is clean up the whole area so it's spotless, then ride it for a bit to see where the oil is coming from. Chances are it will be nothing serious, and will be fine for a 900 mile trip.
