Lex Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Bizarre. Even odder, many of the tuned ones I have found carry three carbs.... That would be the classic "Triple Deuces", just another strange thing that comes from the US car culture. Since they ran the carbs into a big plenum chamber before the intake runners it didn't really matter how many holes feed the engine. Not to get off topic but, but have you ever seen a Ford Flat Head V-8 apart? The exhaust valves are in the center of the V, the ports wrap around the cylinders to get the the three ports per side of the block. My father told me Henry Ford was obsessed with keeping the engine warm so he insisted the V-8 be laid out that way. When Ford bought Lincoln they changed the flat head Lincoln V-12 so the exhaust ran like the Ford V-8 instead of out the center of the V like it had been designed. Three two barrel carbs are just the start of the silliness. Think of all the work engineers are doing now to shorten exhaust ports to cut the amount of heat transferred to the head by the hot exhaust, I'm sure 'ol Henry would have made them stop that! Lex
