gavo Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 fuelsI've watched the debate about pinging and the suggested cures ranging from tune up to minor engine rebuild, well here's my Back when I was an apprentice and they still put lead in fuel the rule of thumb was compression 7.5:1 approx or less ,regular or standard fuel 92 ron ok. Higher ratio better fuel around 97ron (premium or super) I believe the V11 has a ratio of 9.8:1 why on earth would u run low octane fuel(as some members have said they do) then wonder why it pings. These bikes don't leave the factory pinging so look for the simple things first. Have u change fuel recently is igniton timming accurate. If u must use a low octane fuel use an octane booster.I've attached a link to a fuel article u might find interesting http://www.imageno.com/p7hb2pybxnempic.html http://www.imageno.com/0xipij612g3npic.html
