jrt Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Belfast, it's just a Linn Basik, but that's still a fabulous arm. I read about the wood-o-philes, but that's taking things a bit extreme even for me. Here's the current setup: I don't have pictures of the guts handy- I'll see if I can dig them up. I machined an T-shaped aluminum piece to float under some springs and a tube/bucket sort of thing to hold the bearings for the platter. Too technical?

Too technical? WELL -- I'd post it in Tech Topics and see what happens. Post it under a heading like, 'A Sagging Saddle Improved', or 'Sloppage Plate - THE Upgrade'. I bet there'll be massive interest. Don't use use your own name. Either Big Sandy or Fly-Rite would be fine. The frisson of an undiscovered guru is just what the Board needs.
ferguzzi Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Hmmm.... I have no idea what you people are talking about....
Martin Barrett Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 This is probably not the thread to relate the story of when my Mike Oldfield Crisis LP was left in the back of my friend's car one summer's day and the only way to play it afterwards was to weigh the tone arm down with several pennies to prevent it skipping. Oops seem to have done it.
jrt Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 my tiny bearing? If ever Big Sandy and his Fly Rite boys come through your town, go see them. Heck of a show. Guard yer women. Actually, now as I recall, his steel guitar player was (is?) Irish. So, there. WELL -- I'd post it in Tech Topics and see what happens.Post it under a heading like, 'A Sagging Saddle Improved', or 'Sloppage Plate - THE Upgrade'. I bet there'll be massive interest.
