Guzzirider Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I want a great looking but effective headlamp for my cafe racer- all I can find on the net is either traditional Lucas style 7inch jobs (look fine but will probably have a crappy beam) or nasty looking streetfighter lamps which look awful. Anyone got another suggestions? I'd like it to be a chrome finish, look traditional but work well. Could also do with some suggestions for nice headlamp brackets that will fit 45mm forks, and mount mini indicators too. Many thanks Guy
macguzzi Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Lucas made a nice flat one for the original trident should get it from norman hyde
Foxy Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Cibie Z-beam in a decent shell. BMW /7 headlight. Much better than anything else they've produced in recent years.
waspp Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 I used the cibie lens with the original T3 shell I liked the look of the wide chrome headlight ring but it was difficult to find. You might consider the tomaselli headlight mounts , good quality and work well.
Steve G. Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Early Laverda triples used the big handsome 9" Bosch unit, still available. The V11 Sport 8" unit is readily available, in fact it's the same unit, and part # used on late 70's and newer Laverdas. I say, the bigger the better, go with the 9" Bosch. A 7" unit off an English bike will look too small. Steve
Guzzirider Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 Thanks for the ideas guys! The Jackal already has exactly the same headlight as a V11 Sport but I don't like the plastic bowl. I was thinking last night maybe I could simply buy a chrome bowl and swap it for the plastic bit. Unfortunately I don't think Tommaselli make brackets big enough to fit 45mm forks sO I may go for these from M & P which I can hopefully mount some indicators on too. Any other ideas much appreciated! Cheers Guy
Paul Minnaert Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 traditionaly indicators should be mounted in the bolts that hold the headlight.
Bbennett Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Guzzirider - Please keep us posted on this interesting project. Those brackets do look nice BTW.
macguzzi Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 those v7 sports headlights are very nice but the price ain't
Mal Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 http://www.arteauto.com/carriagelampearly1900s.aspx I'm sure you could shoehorn a halogen bulb into this baby Otherwise an 80's BMW, the R65 had a small headlamp (black metal back, chrome rim), R80/100 had something similar to the V11. Motorworks may be able to help with these. Mal
Guzzirider Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 . Thanks Mal- is this carbon fibre?
belfastguzzi Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Thanks Mal- is this carbon fibre? Carbon fibre my elbow! That's an Incontinent Velocity Extra Draughty Carburettor (double pole - double throw). Wow, I want that for my Ricketyman Triumph project. Three shillings?
