Guest captain nemo Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 One by one I'm getting this thing ready. I noticed that the throttle opens up a bit whenever I turn the bars hard right. Can't have this. I traced the cable to under the tank. There I tugged on the cable itself and again the throttle opened up. What is this? Is the damn throttle cable too short or can I fix this without replacing the cable?
docc Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Are you sure your highly modified clip-on postion is not the culprit? Also, having moved the clip-ons, be sure the cables hve proper free play.
RichMaund Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 There's an adjuster hidden under the rubber boot on the cable assembly where it exits the trottle assembly. My cables were too slack when new. That adjuster made short work of it.
Guest captain nemo Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 Thanks Rich, you're right - that would have made short work of it. I learn the hard way, so I took off the tank and undid the cable, housing and hand grip to take a good look. Remounted everything, adjusted everything - and still, moving the handles opened the throttle. Then I played with the screw under the boot you mentioned and put slack in the line - that did it as you suggested. Yes, I learn the hard way, but I learn.
