macguzzi Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Any Hotel or Guest house recomendations please
Guzzirider Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Al Verdes- run by Guzzisti in a stunning location at the top of the town. Great food, lovely people and plenty of old pictures, photos and memorabilia. Reasonably priced too. If you do not have any transport its a long way above the town up a steep hill, but if you have a bike no problem. Lovely walks in the mountains behind it- lots of rivers and waterfalls to explore. Don't let them persuade you to have the 9 course pasta menu- it will kill you. Guy
Orson Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I saw Albergo Milano in Varenna garnered a good review on a television travel show. Varenna is a nice town and handy as it's a ferry port.
Keith Foster Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 For a past job , several years ago, I spent a month at this place: Torrette Hotel and I highly recommend it. It is not far from Mandello and run by a great family. The son (Luca Riva) rides a Ducati S4RS and can reccomend many roads (if you will be riding) and they run a wonderful restaraunt in house.
roberto tenni Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 A little on the funky side is a bungalow or camping at Camping Continental. That's where I always stay. When are you going?

roberto tenni Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Funky isn't how I remember it but it was an experience!! I'd stay there again tho The place has improved in the last two years and now has a really nice resturant with balcony tables overlooking the lake.
Gino Rondelli Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 The place has improved in the last two years and now has a really nice resturant with balcony tables overlooking the lake. I stayed there a few years ago (with a Norton) we had a ball but the facilities were crap. Character tho and plenty good stories to tell.
Karl Von Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Mamma Ciccia is great. I stayed there last year for a few days.
