Gino Rondelli Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Sorry to bring up the dreaded subject of oil, I'm a bit confused as to which oil to use where in my 1100 Breva. I take it the Agip Racing 4T can be replaced with fully synthetic equivalent. Whats the recomendation for Gearbox & Carc, my old guzzi's use the same oil in each. been trawling the net but not finding any sense yet.
commando tod Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I`ve put a quality synthetic in both the carc and box, same oil in both. It doesn`t break down as quick as mineral stuff, and 1 litre is sufficient for both, so change it often.
Gino Rondelli Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 Any type in particular? I take it you also have / had a Norton?
GuzziMoto Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I prefer Redline Shockproof in the gearbox and CARC. I have heard that the newer Guzzis do better with 10/60w but I run 20/50w. Brands are a touchy subject but I suggest either bike oil or diesel oil, no car oil.
antonio carroccio Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 The same formule as for the V11: gear: 75/140 engine: mobil1 5w-50 100% synthetic CARC: 75/90 dunno exately is the oil for the CARC and for the gear is the synthetic one. Anyway the gear oil is a Castrol one. and the CARC Motul.
commando tod Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Any type in particular? I take it you also have / had a Norton? redline shockproof in g/box and carc if you can get it. But even silkolene will do. And yes, I do have a `73 commando 850 interstate.
Slavomir Musilek (R.I.P.) Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 i run Catrol MTX 75w-140 in rear drive and Gbox, also friends with Brevas runs it. Easily available and running perfect. Generally, and GL-5 spec. sync. oil can be used
