Admin Jaap Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 Thanks! I'll be giving them a call if there's a room available.
ferguzzi Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hi Jaap, there's a nice old museum in dumfries. A couple of relatively unusual pieces, they even have a saab draken, bizarrely. I spent about an hour there, and it's only 20 minutes from ken bridge. Dumfries is also on various runs the fast jet guys use, so you might spy a few tornados, hawks and,if you're lucky, a typhoon. See you in ulster! ferg.
Admin Jaap Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Thanks! I will look for it if I can fit it in on my trip to Ken Bridge. Saab Draken... I built a scale model once.
ferguzzi Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 me too. and a viggen. You've got to hand it to the swedes, their beer is shite, but they make great airplanes!
Admin Jaap Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 The Dutch airforce needs to replace their F16s and is probably going to buy the Joint Strike Fighter, but Saab is still competing with the much cheaper Gripen. I don't think the Swedes will succeed, because the Dutch government wants to stay friends with the US... "Mr. President, you can always count on the support of the Netherlands!" - "Thanks, that's a really big relief" "May I hold your hand for a while?"

Sounds very much like Denmark to me....... :-) Replace the word 'Dutch' with 'Danish'. Have a safe trip, Herr Über-Admin! Cheers Søren

Guzzirider Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Great pics John! Wish I could have joined you! About to leave for Ken Bridge- and yes it's precipitating heavily.

John in Leeds Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Yes it pissed down from Hawes to Sedbergh and all the way back to Skipton. It was bad last night and this morning. Hopefully it will all be gone for the meet in NI - good luck folks. You'll have a great time whatever the weather
