motomoto Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I have a 2002 MotoGuzzi California and it's low on tranny fluid. Not sure what weight fluid to use. Also, my clutch cable is loose. I've tightened the cable but is reloosens. Not sure if it's the bearing, low fluid or cable.
Guest ratchethack Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 MM, the Guzzi manual calls for 80W/90 dino lube and replacement every 6K miles for the 6-speed gearbox, but most (including myself) use a high-grade synthetic on a much longer replacement interval. The 5-speed box on the California has the same lube requirements as the 6-speed. My choice is Redline Shockproof 100% synthetic, also used by many here. Though it has NO replacement interval spec from Redline, many (including myself) replace it every other year or so, depending on mileage. There is no clutch cable on a V11, all are hydraulic. But your California should be pretty straightforward WRT cable adjustment. There's no relationship between clutch cable adjustment and low gear lube.
fotoguzzi Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Ratch, the cali's have a cable. motomoto, do you have one o them one plate clutches? sounds like it might be going bye bye.. how many miles? actually it's the 03 with the single plate clutch but you could still have it. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=25317.0
