Paul Minnaert Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 We are back and had a great time. I Started in Eindhoven, and went through Germany in 2.5 days to Milan. There I met my wife, who came by train to Milan. We went to Fbike for the first service, what all went well. During the service we visited the center. After that we took the autostrada to Bologna, where we visited the center and had lunch. After lunch we took the sp65/ Strada regionale della Futa. Very nice road but took a lot of time, and we ended that day in the dark in Stia, in Hotel Faltorona, where we got their room with painting on the ceiling. The next day, we went to Perugia where we had lunch, and after that to Assisi. There it was real hot, and we went to our goal the Hotel Montali, south form lago Trassimeno. There we cooled in the pool, and had a great dinner. Unfortunately we had to leave the next day to Pisa where my wife should take the plane home. But during the day she decided to stay with me and travel the whole way home at the Stelvio backseat. I shorthand the route for the next day, and we took the ss12 from Pisa to Modena, a very nice road. After that I had planned to cross the Po valley, what wasn’t such a good idea. Roads full with trucks and cars, not something to come back too again. We ended that day in Mandello, where all Hotels were booked. So we slept at the camping in Abbadia Lariana. The next day was to cross the alps, and started direct with rain, and it was cold too. The Majola and Julierpass were nice. The holiday was one we will never forget, and we planned to come back to Montali for more days. http://www.montalionline.com/ The Stelvio did its job well, only the speedosensor didn’t work after some rain in the night. A known problem more Stelvio and Griso have. And some spilled gas over the paint from the gastank has left its brown marks. The Stelvio has proved to be a good touringbike, also with two people, and that’s why I bought it. The trip was 3500km, and with a small trip this weekend it now has 5000km done. A special thanks for Calidreaming who communicated between me and Guareschi, where in the beginning I planned to do the service, but it didn’t fit in the travel schedule, so I went to Fbike. Orson Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Nice pictures! Wish I was there Thanks for sharing
Guzzirider Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Nice pics Paul looks like a good trip. The Julierpass is a great road- wide sweeping bends rather than the narrow tight roads of many other passes.
