Guest gooddog Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 The battery light has been flickering on and off for about as of recent, usually while idelling at a traffic light. A twist of the wrist has been able to turn it off, until tonight where it stayed on for several minutes while zipping around town. I recently upgraded two of the relays, but i would imagine that its an alternator issue or just a short. Any suggestions?
al_roethlisberger Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Hard to say off-hand, but I'd check all your connectors and especially grounds. Your rectifier could be going south I suppose, and you can test that... although I don't know how But I'd check all the other connectors first. Grounds on these bikes are notoriouslhy finicky al
docc Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 The most common seems to be the connections to the battery itself. Make sure they are snugged up well.
jrt Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 And check the path to ground. Did Al mention to check the grounding path? Or the path to ground? It's probably not the relays. The rectum-fryer is solid state, so when that goes south, it goes all the way south. With your symptoms, it's probably the ground. Did Carl mention to check the ground? Cheers, Jason
