raz Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 So what the heck is this? Name, displacement, and whatever.
DeBenGuzzi Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 FGHIK$^W#%YGDFG, I've never seen ANYTHING like that and I've done a LOT of google'n9(and other means) I'm not even going to try on this one
antonio carroccio Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 That's the diesel bike from The Netherlands. Dunno the name, I think Startwin or something like that. I really would to have a point. That would be the first one in 7 years, pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease
Admin Jaap Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Antonio is right: Startwtin Thunderstar 1200 from the Netherlands Here's a brochure: http://www.startwin.com/paginas/specials_p...eur/motorEN.pdf
raz Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 Yup. I found it here: http://www.gizmag.com/go/4273/ It has interesting characteristics. 205 kg ready to ride. Fuel economy: 2.5 liters/100 km "It produces at the moment approximately 70 bhp and 160 Nm (118 ft pound) of torque. We will increase the power and torque later this year to more than 100 bhp and between 200 to 250 Nm of torque. We decided to slowly increase the power output of the machine, so we can easily see what the effects are and because it’s an enormous amount of torque on the drive train of the machine." I wonder where the rev limiter is, like, 4000 rpm?
Admin Jaap Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 They tried it on the track (Ducati Club Race Assen 2005?) but had to quit with mechanical probs... Like a lot of the Startwin projects it starts with an outrageous idea (a 900 CC one-cylinder race engine!) but ends with... well... nothing much. But if you just look it as a technical excercise, these guys are great!
DeBenGuzzi Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 OMG, antonio gets a point??? what is the world coming toooooo, POINT AWARDED
raz Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 Congratulations Antonio, I'll continue my quest for a stumper
