I know you mentioned a Scottish bash- how about joining up with the MGCGB Rally on 30th April to 3rd May at Cromarty on the Black Isle? Would save having to organise a separate event.

Scottish Rally

I see you have already been in the guestbook!

I'm more than happy to organise another V11 meeting in the UK in 2011 but will be too busy in 2010 to sort anything. Was thinking of mid Wales-I have a few ideas but maybe Keith could suggest some locations.

Happy New Year

Someone spoke!! :o

I mentioned Scotland, back than, just to check if Euan MacHaggis was still thinking of doing something.

Otherwise I saw the MGCGB event and want to aim for it.

If you have seen any recent posts on MGCGB Forum you may have noticed my extreme unhappiness over the continuing Griso / MG / Piaggio mess.

It a big Moto Guzzi downer. I enquired about a trade in, but even in top condition the book value is only half of what it cost less than two years ago. <_>

Looking on the bright side, I do want to get to a rally or two and organise something here again – so that gives something positive to look forward to.

New bike prices are rocketing- so I reckon come the spring the used market may be strong too- if you want to sell your Griso you may get a better price for it!

Dont vist the MGCGB forum very often- too many threads not enough time to read!

Would be nice to come to another Ireland meet time permitting- enjoyed my drive from Greysteel to Dublin on Sunday- blue skies and the mountains were covered in deep snow. We had driven past Lough Fea a couple of days earlier and it was completely frozen over- very scenic.

Maybe having a meeting same weekend as a road race may be an idea?

David, are you still planning on doing an end end of May Ulster Guzzi Rally

Hi Trev,

Yes, though there are no detailed plans yet.

The more I hear from people who might want to come, the easier it will be to decide what to do.

If it was only a few local people then it could be very casual, but if people are travelling, then it needs to be more organised. For example: Jaap has expressed interest and has penciled the date in his calendar.

The place we stayed last time worked well and would still allow a trip to Donegal, for example.

It's open to suggestions and I'll meet with one or two people here soon to start making some definite plan.

If you've any thoughts, let me know.

Whoops, I looked back and the dates are marked in ink.

Two differences the next time would be that I'd do more open road rather than (what I consider the beautiful) smaller roads and I won't make meeting places along the way. Arrangements to meet others at particular places and times are too difficult to manage, creating delay and frustration.

It could be good to do the Antrim Coast road again, with an early morning start to miss the traffic.

That would also give more time to visit some places on the route that people were interested to see last time, such as the Giant's Causeway and the Carrick a Rede rope bridge.

Question:

is it possible to catch the ferry in Newcastle at 17:00 from Larne in one day?

Hi Antonio

the answer should be, yes.

I think that Guy or perhaps Jaap can tell you exactly how long it takes. (I'm not sure if Jaap went home that way.)

5 hours is about right. You could do it quicker!

But I wouldn't take the ferry from Larne. It takes a lot longer than the one from Belfast. And Belfast is closer to Portaferry. However... if you take the ferry from Belfast you have to be in Belfast at 07.30 (!) if you want to be in Newcastle at 17.00...

2 ferries in one day is no fun imo. And getting up this early after an evening in an Irish pub; I seem to recall that's not an option!

Yeh, I could do that...

Oh yes... that's right.

That should have been very straightforward: can't think where the plan fell down :D
