Guest ratchethack Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I have the direct link race performance program and when the bike stoped the temperature goes to about 50 ºc at idle. Thanks for providing this, Jose. It's interesting enough to know about, alright. Chasing performance by moving the sensor would seem to be pointless here, since engine output at idle while stopped is meaningless. It would also be interesting to know how rapidly the sensor readings change to reflect ambient temps at operating RPMs on the road, but the OE setup would seem to be ideal for overall emissions and mileage, correctly engineered for optimum A/F at all modes of operation. O' course, (as a few of us have discovered by experimenting extensively with head temp sensors), YMMV. Signifcantly, at that.
raz Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I totally agree. My playing with the idea of moving the sensor is purely for more consistent starting, and possibly idling in slow traffic. I tend to believe that when the engine ingests 2 - 3 m3 of air per minute, the sensor will measure the same, correct, temp at either location. This thread can't end up like the other sensor thread... or can it?
