Greg Field Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 This must have been what Greg and Dave saw a few months back with his meeting with Galuzzi and the Piaggio Yes Men.Definitively more promising with pics, though hope those are closer to concept than reality or finished product.Maybe the Roadster transforms into a nice looking Italian bike Fit and finish look good, and some very nice looking parts. How bout the Ohlins-like front end of the roadster.Piggy back reservoirs at he bottom.Interesting These are not what we were shown. Those, apparently, are to come. They hinted at the Clubman and hinted that something was to come bearing the LeMans name, but they did not show photos of any of these three bikes.
hoytstaab Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I like Terblanche's thinking- the whole point of launching a prototype at EICMA is to create discussion, and then use this feedback to create something real. If Guzzi management & dealers look to forums like this for free feedback, here is some very positive feedback.... The frame/airbox and simplicity of a hinged hood to make it happen is fantastic! Ingenious. Mellow-out the pointy tail. Possibly a rounded tail section (while still being part of the hinged "hood"). A rear hugger fender looks great and works! I'd prefer the wheels off of the green Motard (the straight spokes)
jihem Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 It's a very 'disintegrated' design, when Terreblanche's best model (undoubtely the 1993 Ducati Supermono) was on the contrary very integrated and rather organic. Here, I do feel the rear wheel is orphan from the rest of the bike, a looooong way behind the frame and the whole bike feels heavy and raw. But good to see Pierre/Piaggio is at least trying.
grossohc Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Theres a short vid on mcn website. Terreblanche saying they were only started in april and are now 80% ready for production. 21st century guzzis at last.
docc Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 . . . Terreblanche's best model (undoubtely the 1993 Ducati Supermono) . . . +1 on that!
DeBenGuzzi Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 +1 on that! I just looked that up, now I know youre all on crack thats the ugliest bike referenced in this thread, bleh
docc Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Just to be sure we're on the same page . . . it's the design the 916 was derived from:
savagehenry Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I just looked that up, now I know youre all on crack thats the ugliest bike referenced in this thread, bleh In this case, I feel safe to ask... GIVE the PIPE Here, SLOWLY... it' fer yer for own good. ...but let's still have that beer!

Mmmm... Supermono!.. Only one thing handicapped that bike: a lack of excess! Really should have gone with a 1000cc single for that design... HEEEYYYY! Now that's an idea! Have Terblanche redo the Supermono as a literbike for Guzzi, call it the "Super Falcone" or something & laugh all the way to the bank! [All ideas copyright 2009 Bruce Brodnax, all rights reserved. C'mon, Piaggio, put me in charge of development! I'll deliver this baby on time & under budget! ]
Murray Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Wonder what this boards reaction would of been if one of the bikes had a set of clip on's and a MGS-01 style half fairing on it, its not a big step from what's been displayed. It would be a new sporting oriented frame which is a good thing IMO and not pursuing the my chrome barge cruiser has bigger cc than yours touted by some corners of the media is a good thing IMO.

I'll take a stab at that,....We would probably be eating out of their hands. Don't know of anyone who has seen the MGS and said they don't like the way it looks. Like the Supreme Court judge that said,I'll paraphrase,"I don't know how to define pornography but I'll know it when I see it" Same with beauty or a beautiful motorcycle, you know it when it's right. Yes we all want updated, more reliable, higher quality and beautiful to look at motorcycles.I like what their doing here they just have to give it a cleaner look.It looks like an unfinished high school science project.
GuzziMoto Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Just to be sure we're on the same page . . . it's the design the 916 was derived from: Uh... no. The 916 was a different design by a talented designer (Tamburini) who also has designed other beautiful bikes like the MV F4. Aside from maybe a similar look to the gas tank they are very different looking designs.

THANK YOU, now who has to pass the pipe? that bike is uglier than sin
docc Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Ooh, hey, what a major Ducati guy I've shown myself to be. That and I've never seen a (picture of a) Supermono with headlights, turn signals and the funky Caterpillar yellow paint panels.
