Guzzirider Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I recently decided that it was about time I shifted some weight, and at the same time support a worthy cause so I have recently started a sponsored slim in aid of Kirkwood Hospice who provide specialist care for those people in Kirklees facing life-threatening illness. They respect individual needs and wishes caring for the whole person to help them achieve the best possible quality of life. Families, friends and carers are offered additional support and help during the illness and in bereavement. Kirkwood needs to raise over £3 Million in voluntary donations every year for it to mainitain services, so need every bit of help they can get. And just think how much faster my V11 will be afterwards when I have lost 10kgs (22 pounds!) Thanks to Søren and Jaap for their very generous contributions- donations however big or small are very much appreciated. Your donations go direct to the charity itself- please visit my Just Giving page: My link Many thanks Guy

Paul Minnaert Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Good thing that you started to loose some weight. I have seen a number of guys having diabetes, all are way to heavy. I had the same idea, gained 5 kg last year, and felt that couldn't go on. So I started loosing weight, have lost 7 kg so far. Pretty easy I must say. Now it's going slower. But I'm feeling much better now. What I did: - only one glass alcohol a day - nothing after evening meal - no cookies or sweet - one dish less at evening meal Eating vegetarian helps too, but I do that for 30 years.
jihem Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 a diet has to be personalized as people all respond differently but there are some things that seem to work for most: eat more fruits and vegetable ban sugar try to ban diet drinks have a big breakfast and a light evening meal eat fish instead of meat eat organic when you can (processed food ain't good for no one) avoid ready-to-go prepared meals (like the ones you find in supermarkets) courage !
antonio carroccio Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Guy. This is so wrong! All these guys here are giving you the most wrong advice. WHO IS GOING DRINK ALL THAT BEER IN IRELAND? Not me! Maybe Jaap (?)
