bike wont start

when i ride the bike and pull in then when i try to start it there is no power going to the pump or starter. i have to turn off and on the key a few times before it will start there is a new battery in it can any one help.

Does it do the same thing in neutral with the side stand down?

 

In other words, does it do the same thing seated on the bike with the side stand UP?

There are five relays under the seat of a V11. Atleast two of them must work in order for the fuel pump to run. They are prone to not working all the time. Many people have upgraded their stock relays to higher quality ones.

I believe the back two are the ignition and ECU and are the main ones for running the fuel pump, but I could be wrong.

It is true the last two relays trigger the fuel pump, but they get their power from the Run Switch.

 

The Run Switch gets power from the middle relay (or the side stand switch). The middle relay is activated by the neutral switch (but it is called the sidestand relay).

 

It gets even more complicated when we look at how the headlight relay and the starter relay are related.

 

I'm glad Orangeokie is back with his simple "Know The Rules" (and the animated signature!)

 

"Knowing The Rules" will solve 91.23 % of these problems. The other 8.77 % keeps us together!
