Monster V11 brake lever matchup

Hi there,

 

I was hoping someone on the forum could confirm for me that an after market front brake lever designed to fit a 2001 monster will fit a 2001 V11? From searching the forum I was able to see that monster levers worked on V11's, just wanted to make sure that V11's used the same controls year by year, that you didn't have to order a 98 monster lever to work on an 01 v11 for example.

AFAIK the V11 always had the same levers. But... not all Ducati/Brembo levers fit! Best thing to do is go to a Duc dealer and find out for sure.

I thought the Brembo lever should fit but it is not adjustable.

In the original lever of the V11 there is a button with 4 staps, Duc doesn't have it.

If you have short fingers you have a problem.

When I needed a replacement clutch lever for my 2000 V11 sport, I bought a Ducati set off of Ebay. The seller reported that these levers fit the following Ducati's with 12mm pivot bolts.

 

Monster 400 99-07 (04-07*)

From the photo's they looked correct and for $46 bucks for a set of new levers I could afford to be wrong. So I took a chance. When I got them I compared them to the levers that were in my V11 and they were exact.

I just received and installed a set of short Pazzo levers from MotoMummy.com (on sale for $149 and free shipping).  MotoMummy would not advise me or show me pictures of the levers due to "liability reasons." But I decided to give it a go anyway and pretended that I had a 1998 Ducati 748 (always liked those...). 

 

The Pazzo part numbers are DB-12 (Brake) and DC-12 (clutch). The order came with a list that specified 10 different Ducatis that they fit.  I edited the list from the above post to match the information I received.

1. Monster M400:  1999-2003
2. Monster M600:  1994-2001
3. Monster M 620:  2002
4. Monster M750/M750IE:  1994-2002 
5. Monster M900:  1994-99 
6. 900SS:  1991-97 
7. 748:  up to 1998
8. 916/916SPS:  up to 1998
9. ST2:  1998-03 
10. ST4/S/ABS:  1999-02

Several other Ducatis use the same clutch lever, but a different brake lever. I only listed the bikes that show both levers the same as what I installed.

Here are the short Pazzos next to the stock levers. The contact points are exactly the same. They work fine and they make correct contact with the clutch and brake switches. I adjusted the actuator-screws so they stuck out the same distance as the stock levers.

 

 

And here's a pic of one lever installed.  Not even a remote possibility of interference with the bar-end mirrors. 

 

 

Happy hunting for cheap used replacements or shiny aftermarket levers.

I use the same levers on my Ducati 2003 1000ss, 2000 V11 and 2001 Ducati ST2.

I went to a Pazzo distributor on the V11 and he identified a Ducati system and I rode away with them on the bike.

 

I went for a red/black combination, the red matching the footrest hangers and now my clock mount too.

 

The Pazzo rest easier in the hand giving a crisper, cleaner feel adding to finesse in control, particularly the clutch.
