rossi46 Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Hi, Just removed my rear wheel, my first time!, to do the cush drive, I have read Docc's checklist and have some questions- where do I find the rear drive and g/box vents? also the brake carrier block I just unscrewed the block(rather than remove the bolt) why lube this and what sort of torque should I use when putting wheel back on? thanks
docc Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 The rear drive vent is in top of the rear drive - easy to see. the gear box vent is between the output shaft and the clutch slave cylinder - not easy to see. The rear wheel spindle torques to 120 NM (from the "drive side") I don't see how you have "unscrewed" the brake block without taking out the bolt? The block should just slide off.
rossi46 Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Thanks, Block was a tight fit I assumed it was threaded - off to try and open the cush drive now! when re-assembling should I lightly grease the outside of this?
jrt Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 grease or neversieze should be ok. Um, be careful when you try to dissasemble the cush drive. The bolts (they are hex bolts, right?) are very, very soft. They also have threadlock on them, so heat them up if you can. Oh, and the vents look like little square-profile mushroom caps. Easy to spot, as Docc points out.
rossi46 Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Thanks all back together now , soaked the bolts with acf-50 overnight and thy came out ok- only problem is rear brake seems alittle spongy now-off to re-bleed -thanks
