belfastguzzi Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I don't know anything about this stuff. I quite like the picture though. "Former MotoGP rider and recently crowned Henderson Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy Champion, Jeremy McWilliams, has emerged victorious from the final round of the 2010 AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 series at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alabama on 26 September. The Warr’s Racing rider competed in the series as a guest rider after sealing the title in the inaugural UK series at Cadwell Park in August aboard a Harley-Davidson XR1200 motorcycle, prepped to a similar level as those raced in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 series. Best British rider McWilliams proved that he is still world class with a convincing race win on his first outing in the US championship. The Irishman lined up for the 11-lap race alongside the season-long contenders on the grid in difficult conditions, determined to bring a Transatlantic race win home to London-based Warr’s Harley-Davidson. McWilliams, supported by Warr’s, Roadracingworld.com and HOG Racing, led the race from start to finish with veteran Michael Barnes closely shadowing him aboard the Jones Brothers XR1200. Despite a close race-long contest between the two, it was McWilliams who pulled away to claim the race win and the accolade of being the only rider to claim XR1200 race wins on two continents. McWilliams said “Winning the final race in the American series was the icing on the cake in what has been a fantastic and fun year racing the Warr’s XR1200. I was in some pain over the weekend due to the cracked ribs I sustained during a testing session in Spain, but I was determined to end the season on a high. To beat the other Harley riders in their own back yard is a testament to Warr’s experience and expertise in prepping bikes and providing a reliable package.”"
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Jeremy McWilliams! That name sounds familiar ... rather Irish I must say ... perhaps a bit of a racer even!!
Tom M Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 From what I've read the AMA XR1200 series was great bar-to-bar racing all season. Of course Harley riders are known for racing to and from the bars, but these guys were on the the track not the street. I wish they televised some of the Harley races along with the other AMA roadraces. Reminds me of the old superbike racing when men were men and bikes were nekkid!
belfastguzzi Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Mmmm I like those pics too. Unfortunately you failed your Guzzi Beard Test. The complete sentence should be: "Reminds me of the old [...blah blah whatever] when Guzzis were Guzzis, men were men and bikes were nekkid!'
luhbo Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 ... when Guzzis were Guzzis... What exactly are you trying to say? You act like a horned hubby somehow Hubert

I think you have missed out on some excessive 'discussions' in the bearded Guzzi world recently. Now, where are my slippers?
