me2grouchy Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Hello Everyone! I am having a problem with a project bike that I bought last year.PO had installed oil filter incorrectly and taken a trip to races in Daytona ignoring oil light on the way.He and his friend were unsuccessful with repairs and the bike sat for a couple of years before I bought it last year.I spoke with my mechanic buddy and decided that a used motor would be to my liking for $$$$ reasons. It took months to find another V11 motor that came from a lower mileage 2000 V11 bike .the bike that I bought is 2002 Lemans with the crusty black paint that I've read ab here in different threads.Anyway my buddy has swapped the engines for me but is having problems with the engine running rich on one cylinder and lean on the other.I told him I would see if anyone knew if the trigger points for the two engines ignitions were different between the two model years. He used the electronics and fuel systems off the '02 bike but has left everything in place from 2000 behind the alternator cover on my new/used motor.Rod is a great mechanic and has had my bike parked in his shop since last fall working on it as parts needed and time between running his business permitted. It is almost complete but he is a stumped at the moment with the rich/lean cylinder issue.I have read the threads here for awhile and have enjoyed seeing the help offered from the more experienced to the rookies.I loved my green 2000 V11 so much that I bought this 2002 with the hope that my adult son could ride with me as well as my younger brother that used to ride trails with me back in the 70's.Please give us a hand if you can guys.
gstallons Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Swap the injectors from left to right and see if the condition changes from one side to the other. It should. Then contact www.lindertech.com and send them to be flow rated, tested and repaired.

Thanks for your advice.I'll suggest that Mon.and if it does change the condition from side to side I'll give "Bubba" a call.
drewscura Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Make sure the throttle bodies are balanced. Mine ended up out of adjustment while removing the engine to get rid of the fuzzy guzziness. Making sure the valves are set wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Thanks will do that as well.I've been working on carbs on another bike for the last couple of weeks.my riding buddy has been itching to get his mercury tubes on it for awhile.just starting to get the hang of carbs. no experience with injected engines. Thanks for your input!Do you ever go to Bike night at Twains in Decatur? I see you're from Atlanta.
drewscura Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Do you ever go to Bike night at Twains in Decatur? I see you're from Atlanta. Every week. I'm on the Red S4RS Monster until I get the old Scura repaired. Wait a minute. Did you scoop this thing off of craigslist a couple of months ago for dirt cheap? I was losing sleep on whether or not I should go pick that one up. I was honestly glad it wasn't available anymore. Even though I would've probably had everything to repair mine with by now. I'm sure everyone here can sell me what little bits I need when I have the money.

Turns out that the problem was tpc control.setting recommended by "the book"didn't work for the right side.I've put couple of hundred miles on her and she runs great.Bought some black side covers on ebay to make up for grey engine since it came from early red frame model. This bike is the grey and red model with black spackle for engine.haha!!Now engine is grey and oilpan and trans are black.Looks okay actually.Very happy with her so far.Anyway just thought I'd report what problem ended up being for anyone interested.
