belfastguzzi Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 LOL. Bloomin' Good-Luck Guzzi - Came home to find the beast on it's side. I had filled the tank with petrol of course, so it was at max weight. Usual sort of damage done. I wish I could find some pattern brake & clutch levers for the thing, rather than paying £70+ each when they snap (as they do).
belfastguzzi Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 Pazzo / ASV £169 to £175 approx for a pair Motomarts billet levers £40 pair. Hmmm
gstallons Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Pazzo is "the bling factor". Don't know anything about the Motomart levers. I own CRG.
belfastguzzi Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 Has anyone seen or used the cheap Chinese versions? Do they have all the bits necessary for Moto Guzzi fitment? (I was sold equivalent Aprilia levers by a dealer before and they weren't exactly right.)
grossohc Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Wonder if it would be possible to get the levers only and not the rest of the assembly!!!. Probably not that would be to cheap and easy.
HaydnR Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 You don't half have some luck BFG! Fitment guide with pictures
belfastguzzi Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 You don't half have some luck BFG! Fitment guide with pictures Great! That's a big help, to have those pictures. Gary – I am talking about the levers with the fitting on the end. Is that what you mean? I need the end fitting as that's what's broken. I enquired about the Guzzi parts today. Price inc vat is now over £90 each. The dealer also told me that the plastic indicator lens is £20 (plus vat probably) – and that I'd have to pay a big delivery surcharge as it's under £50!! What!?£!???!!£££
Guzzirider Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Bugger. You dont have much luck do you- remember when your Scura blew over after my little spill at Glen Shee? I got some pattern V11 levers from Agostinis which were about £20 each- maybe they make them for a Griso too. Andy bought some pattern levers for his 1200 Sport from Wemoto- they are from an Aprilia Caponord and fit perfectly- I got some for my Sprint too just in case I ever need them.
pete roper Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Dave, I just fitted a set of these to my G. Much improved action to the originals. http://shop.ebay.com.au/i.html?_nkw=griso+levers&_sacat=0&_odkw=hkdrpro@gmail&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313 For 5ifty bux the pair delivered to my door they are bloody hard to go past. If you want some originals I have a spare set that are undamaged but slightly 'weathered'. Pete

So you've seen the Chinese items and what's more, used them – and passed them fit for service. That's the info I need: I'll get a pair ordered, thanks. I've glued up the indicator lens and number plate with an industrial superglue. It's impressive stuff. Haven't tackled the side panel yet. We've observed before how the plastic side and tail unit breaks under the seat at the front end when the bike falls over. A big chunk went this time. Priced the Aprilia Dorsoduro ignition/steering lock today. It's over £300! there's less to it than the Griso unit so I thought it would be under £200. I'll fix it myself anyway with marine grade stainless steel. The stock unit is a weak casting.
belfastguzzi Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 Oh aye – and a kindly Police Constable visited me tonight to enquire about the Aprilia theft on 2nd May. He wanted a statement. I had to tell him that the bike was recovered, by the constabulary, two and a half days after it was stolen. The Officer is going off to check for any CCTV pics now. Nice to know that the lads are on top of the job.

Have you tried AF1? They're usually cheaper than me and I can do you a lock set for $300AU. Pete
belfastguzzi Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 No, I wasn't aware of AF1. I see it now, thanks – based in Texas. I will make something up myself. For starters, it will be stronger. I'm going to have to use other security in future when parking: the steering lock is only an honest person's lock.

I can get you a complete 3 pce.lock set for approx. £180inc.vat or just the steering lock for£80. Have a look on Speedaway web site for yourself and you can price anything for your bike. They no longer do Guzzi spares now-got fed up so gave up. See if the prices compare with what they quoted me. cheers, Andy.

What do you mean about just the steering lock? How does that work? Oh, you mean the ignition barrel / steering lock unit on it's own, without the fuel cap and seat lock. £80 is certainly much closer to the mark! I'll think about that, thanks very much indeed. I'm inclined to go ahead and use a steel plate for strength, though I could also addd that to a new barrel. I'd be using 2 different keys then. It'll be a week or so before I get looking at it. Thanks, I really appreciate your helpful offer. D
