Hi all,

after selling my V11 Le Mans Rosso Corsa & my 950S I decided to go for ONE modern Guzzi.

I already felt in love with a Griso in 2005 when I did a testride with the Griso 1100.

Question: Did anyone make something similar like the "Edge Gard" to protect the rear shock?

I really do not like the looks of the solutions from Skidmarx & Stucchi.

Treachery :o. Forsaken a Tonti AND a Spiney for that jazzy strumpet! :(

Oh well  I wish you well - be interested to hear how you get on. I'd like a new Guzzi one day but wonder if they've gone too "modern" - revs at the expense of bottom-mid range grunt & style over function - for my tastes. Mind it would be nice to have real rear suspension. Why do the frame spars run so high over the motor?

Maybe a modern Guzzi makes you look younger...

In ten years it will also be an old one when all others are driving bikes with electrical engines.

What do you want old chap: a featherbed frame?

Maybe you're right and they are too high: mine seems to fall over rather a lot.

Biesel, what age is yours? Is it brand new?

Edit: second hand? Someone has put a black dash cowl on it. Or, maybe you?

Brand new (2011 model)!

The dash cowl/mirrors/handlebar are black now.

Interesting. I have thought the cowl would be better in black and will paint mine sometime.

I haven't seen anything like the Edgeguard for the Griso. I used rubber (inner tube) to make a barrier for the V11 and may do the same on the Griso.

Maybe take the carbon version?

The plastic 'chrome' unit has a poor finish, so I'm not bothered about painting it: the chrome is all dimpled/blistered. (It was supposed to be replaced under warranty – but it is just one of the warranty parts ordered that I never received.)

Is the headlight bowl still chrome finish? I think it is, in your photo, but not sure.

Edit: looked again and yes it looks like the silver chrome.

I'm interested to know how the new version drives compared to the first 8V motor.

Have you ridden an '08 or '09 Griso?

No never but I was told (by two dealers) that Guzzi also changed the Griso for more midrange torque.

They should have changed the camshafts + ... (?)

DÄS Mototec in Germany now offers camshafts with huge midrange torque improvements:

Yes changed the cams and I thought maybe the airbox, but Pete R says the airbox is still the same.

The graphs look interesting.

They show the improvement with:

new cams

plus PC V

and air filter

The most impressive curves with the fully monty:

- New cams

- Open air box cover

- BMC air filter

- Power Commander V

- BOS 2-1 exhaust

Hello Jan, congrats on the new Griso! Lovely bike. :notworthy:

Thanks Jaap! :-)

The 2011 version of the Griso 8V really runs smoothly, no missing midrange torque.

You can accelerate from 2000 rpm in the 6th gear without any problem.

Hey Jan. Your Rosso Corsa was one of the nicest looking bikes on which I had ever laid eyes. It inspired me to get one for myself. Congrats on the new bike and post some more pics when you can. You never know when you are going to inspire the next new Guzzi owner. :rasta:
